Updating your Pet's Microchip Information

Updated: Feb 23

When you adopt a pet from Saskatoon Dog Rescue, their safety is our top priority. That’s why all of our dogs are microchipped via EIDAP, giving them a permanent form of identification that stays with them for life. A small, painless microchip is inserted under your dog’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. If your dog ever becomes lost, this microchip can be scanned at any veterinary clinic or animal shelter, helping reunite you with your furry friend.

Updating Your SDR Alumni's Microchip Information

Once you've adopted a dog from us, it's essential to update the contact information associated with their microchip. This ensures that if they ever get lost, you can be easily reached. Here's how you can update your SDR alumni’s microchip details through EIDAP:

  1. Create an account at EIDAP.

  2. Click on “Pet Owner Log In” and then select “Register as a Pet Owner”.

  3. After setting up your account, you can add your adopted dog by entering the microchip number, which can be found on your adoption contract.

EIDAP Registration Options

EIDAP offers two registration options for you to choose from:

  1. Basic Registration (Free): This option includes basic information about you and your pet.

  2. Premium Registration ($19.95 one-time fee): This option allows you to upload additional details such as veterinary contacts and photos. You can complete the premium registration form online at EIDAP’s website or by scanning the QR code found on the wallet insert card inside the microchip envelope provided by your foster.

Your Responsibility

It’s your responsibility to complete the microchip transfer and ensure that your contact information is up to date. This simple step can make all the difference in ensuring a quick and safe return if your pet ever goes missing. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please email microchiptransfer@saskatoondogrescue.com.

By taking the time to update your pet’s microchip information, you're giving them the best chance of a safe and speedy return home if they ever get lost. It’s a small action with a big impact on your pet’s safety and peace of mind.
